The South Korean technology, Samsung, announced that its 12 GB RAM LPDDR5 chip is ready for mass production towards the end of this month.

This Big capacity RAM is specifically designed for 5G devices and AI features on smartphones in the future that have high memory requirements.

According to Samsung, the 12 GB RAM LPDDR5 has a speed of 1.3 times faster than its predecessor. RAM is built with a 10 nanometer fabrication process, similar to LPDDR4X RAM which was released a few months ago.

This Big RAM component will contain as many as eight 12 GB chips that allow the device to transfer 44 GB of data or about 12 FullHD movies in seconds.

In addition, this RAM is also claimed to be more efficient power by 30 percent, so the cellphone will have a more durable battery.

Summarized from Engadget, Saturday (07/20/2019), by using this RAM, Samsung said cellphones in the next generation will have the capabilities needed to optimize the capabilities of 5G and AI.

For example, machine-learning capabilities, recording video in high quality, to extend battery life.

Most smartphones sold on the market today still use RAM with a single digit amount such as 4 GB or 6 GB. However, there is also a flagship that uses more than 8 GB of RAM.

An example is the Galaxy S10 where the most popular variant carries 12 GB of RAM. With the start of mass production of 12 GB LPDDR5, it is probable that flagship phones in the future will start using similar capacity RAM.

Samsung's own memory business conditions in recent months have seen price declines and sales figures.

As a result, despite only releasing RAM LPDDR4X for a few months, it's no wonder that Samsung is trying to develop technology so that the conditions of resale are boosted.

Reportedly Samsung also plans to start working on RAM LPDDR5 with a capacity of 16 GB next year.
