EU-owned navigation satellite system, Galileo reportedly collapsed. Galileo was reportedly having problems since Thursday (11/7/2019) ago. This issue resulted in all GPS signal-capturing devices, including smartphones not being able to receive time and position information properly.

Thus, they switched to the United States-owned Global Positioning System (GPS) system, and were operated by the United States Air Force. But still depends on the GPS chip installed on the phone, whether it can connect or not.

It could be that their phone is connected to the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (Glonor), or the navigation satellite of China's BeiDou. Higga News was written, Galileo's service site still mentions the satellites have not recovered.

Of the 26 satellites, 24 of which are  "cannot be used " (not usable). While the other two are "trial" (testing) which means, the service cannot be fully used.

The institution that is responsible for Galileo's operations, the European GNSS Agency (GSA) does not explain in more detail what is exactly the problem that makes the satellite service unstuck.
They only describe the issue as "technical incidents related to basic infrastructure".

"Experts are working to restore the situation as soon as possible," said the representative GSA, Monday (15/7/2019).

"(Team) Anomaly Review Board has been set up to analyze the root of this problem for sure and implement the restoration," obviously One expert from GNSS says, the source of the problem is in the Precise Timing Facility (PTF) in Italy. The PTF is instrumental in generating and curating time reference with all the clocks in the Galileo system which have been inspected and calibrated.

GSA has confirmed this disruption to Governments and private institutions that rely on the navigation of the Galileo satellite system. They also mewanti-wanti that the risk of satellite use is in the user's hand.

On Saturday (13/7/2019), GSA had reported worse that Galileo suffered a full service outage and the signal should not be used, reported from ZDNet. The Galileo satellite launched the European Union in 2016 then.

It became the focus of government agencies and private companies for navigation and search and rescue operations.

As it offers services for free, Galileo is widely used by private technology companies and academics all over the world.
