Apple Stops Sales of 12 Inch MacBooks and Old MacBook Air

The 12-inch MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Air follow the fate of the 11-inch MacBook Air, which has been finished since 2016. This week, the sale of these two old laptops was stopped by Apple.

Apple slashed the 12-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Air along with the launch of the MacBook Air (Retina, 2019) 13 inches down in price, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2019) which is now equipped with a Touch Bar like a 15-inch model.

With the stop, the line of MacBook laptops becomes more compact and consists of three models, namely the 13-inch MacBook Air Retina, the following MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 13 inches and 15 inches.

The 12-inch MacBook was introduced in 2015 with a slim and light body design that weighs 0.92 kilograms. In comparison, the 13-inch MacBook Air weighs 1.25 kilograms.

About the price, the MacBook is priced more expensive than the MacBook Air, even though the features offered are fewer and its performance is considered slower than the MacBook Air.

The fate of the 12-inch MacBook also became gray when the new 13-inch MacBook Air was launched last year.

Because, MacBook Air offers cheaper prices, more ports, fingerprint Touch ID scanner features, and a longer battery life.

This is not the first time Apple has stopped the MacBook line.

The Cupertino-based company, USA, stopped selling original plastic MacBooks in 2010, as KompasTekno summarized from 9to5Mac on Wednesday (07/10/2019).

Meanwhile, the latest MacBook Air (Retina, 2019) 13-inch price was lowered by 100 US dollars to 1,099 US dollars (Rp. 15.5 million) while receiving a number of new features such as True Tone screens.

Then, the 13-inch MacBook Pro gets the Touch Bar feature, the 8th Generation Intel Core processor, the Apple T2 security chip, and Touch ID. The price starts from 1,299 US dollars (Rp. 18.3 million).
