A number of world technology companies are starting to focus on working on cloud-based gaming platforms. Google, for example, has exhibited a cloud gaming technology product called Stadia. Then, there are Microsoft and Sony which together build similar platforms.

Cloud gaming technology apparently also caught the attention of Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. The Japanese game company officials claimed to believe that the technology would be part of the future. Therefore, he wants Nintendo to follow its development.

"Although we don't expect all games to be cloud games in the near future, the technology will definitely advance. We see a future where cloud technology and streaming will develop as a means to offer games to consumers," Furukawa said, as quoted by The Verge.

"We must follow such changes in the environment. Therefore, if these changes increase game populations around the world, it will give us more opportunities with our integrated hardware and software development approach to reach people around the world with unique entertainment that Nintendo can provide. "

Furukawa's statement was agreed by Nintendo Director, Shigeru Miyamoto. The creators of Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong games agreed that cloud gaming will grow rapidly in the future. Even so, he still believes the technology will not replace the game console like Switch.

"I have no doubt that there will continue to be fun games because they run locally and not in the cloud," he said. "We believe it is important to continue to use this diverse technical environment to create unique entertainment that can only be made by Nintendo."

Nintendo has not revealed its own platform or cloud gaming services, such as Google, Sony, and Microsoft. However, they are reported to have experimented with the technology with several partners secretly.

In fact, Nintendo has offered a similar experience by providing streaming services playing games on the Switch via WiFi in Japan. According to The Verge report, there are several game titles that can be played in the Switch grip since the beginning of 2019, such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey from Capcom's Resident Evil 7 and Ubisoft.
